Are you a student looking for work experience with an IT support company?
We welcome students from local schools and colleges who would like to spend a one-week work experience placement at our office in Stourbridge; finding out what it’s like to work in an IT support company.
You will spend the week with our IT support team, with time spent in each area of the business. The business areas you may get to experience include Service Desk, Change Management, Account Management, Marketing, and Accounts. We’ll also provide you with an opportunity to learn more about coding using a Raspberry Pi. You may even have the chance to visit some of our customers and clients with an on-site support engineer.
Work experience rules and regulations
Your placement will be from 9 am to 4 pm each day.
You must wear smart clothing during your placement, such as school shirt and trousers/skirt, and shoes. Casual clothing such as jeans and trainers isn’t permitted, apart from on Fridays when we have a casual clothes day in the office. If you are scheduled to visit a customer or client site on a Friday, you’ll need to wear your smart clothes for that.
There will be a half hour lunch break during your working day. It’s advised to bring a packed lunch, but there is a shop over the road from our office if needed. There is also a fridge and microwave in the office that you will be able to use as well.
You may use a personal mobile phone during your 30-minute lunch break only, and you should keep the phone out of site in a bag or coat pocket at other times.
You’ll be in a professional setting, so we’ll need you to show high standards of behaviour at all times.
Health and safety
You will be spending your work experience placement in a low-risk general office environment. You may visit customer sites which are higher-risk; your supervisor at the time will provide any necessary guidance.
Our Employers Liability Insurance will provide you cover during your time working with us.
Safeguarding
It’s important to create and maintain a safe working environment where all children and young people feel safe, secure and valued, and know they will be listened to and taken seriously. Read our Safeguarding Policy for further information on this.
